  • Could you tell us about your department and your role?
  • I have been with the Design Department since joining the company. In my first two years, I assisted my supervisor by attending client meetings and handling administrative procedures necessary for construction. From my third year, I have taken on my own projects and also create design drawings.

  • What was your impression of the company’s atmosphere?
  • My strongest impression is that the people here are simply fun. Each person’s personality really comes through in the way they work.

  • What do you think are the most appealing aspects of working at this company?
  • One of the often-cited appeals of the architecture industry is that it leaves a mark on the map. Behind that simple phrase, however, are the thoughts and time of many people, all coming together to shape the buildings we see. In the process of designing and constructing a building, you develop close relationships with various people. I feel that being able to experience these connections up close is one of the key attractions of working in design at this company.

  • How has your motivation for work changed now that you are in your fourth year at the company?
  • What was challenging on my first project became much easier on the second one, and being able to see that growth is very rewarding. At the same time, new challenges arise, but there are many moments when I realize, ‘The experience I gained back then is helping me here.’ It makes me feel that no experience has been wasted, and now I even enjoy encountering new challenges.

  • If you could give advice to yourself before joining the company, what would you say?
  • I think it’s important to pay a little more attention to the spaces around you, such as the path to your nearest station or the buildings and scenery you see when you go out. Consider which places feel comfortable to you and why. By doing so, you can gradually develop the sensibilities needed for architectural design. These small observations in everyday life will surely prove valuable when you are designing buildings.

  • Finally, what message would you like to share with people considering joining the company?
  • I believe an architectural design office is a place where you can bring your ideas to life. There are often times when you have a clear image in mind but feel that your knowledge is lacking. Each time that happens, various senior colleagues are willing to advise and fill in the gaps. If you have even a small interest in architectural design, I hope we can create exciting buildings together!
