- Could you tell us about your department and your role?
I am currently part of the Planning Department, where I am mainly responsible for tasks such as property surveys, finalizing drawings, and creating plans. In property surveys, I investigate aspects like the scale of building that can be constructed on a site and the local zoning restrictions, and prepare site maps. This work supports the preparatory stage before the actual design begins. Through these tasks, I am learning the knowledge necessary for design on a daily basis, and my goal is to eventually take on design responsibilities myself.
- What inspired you to join the company, and what made you decide to take the job?
I had always wanted to be involved in building design, and I was particularly interested in larger-scale projects, such as multi-family residential buildings. I feel that these kinds of buildings remain in a city for a long time and have a significant impact on the local area and community. I had a strong desire to work on projects like that.
- What was your impression of the company’s atmosphere?
In the architecture industry, I had the impression that overtime is common and the work can be tough. However, after joining the company, I realized that our supervisors actively work to create a comfortable working environment. That attitude is shared throughout the company, and I personally feel that it makes it very easy to work here.
- Was there anything that felt different from what you expected before joining the company?
Before joining, I thought the workplace might be very formal and tense, but in reality, there are many young employees, and the atmosphere is very welcoming. From the very beginning, there was a supportive environment where I was carefully taught many things, which made it easy to start with confidence.
- What do you think are the most appealing aspects of working at this company?
Even if you have little experience, the company gives you the chance to ‘just give it a try.’ At first, many tasks may feel challenging, but because there’s an environment where you can take initiative, I feel my growth every day.
- Lastly, what would you like to say to people who are thinking about joining the company?
Even within the architecture industry, the type of work can vary greatly depending on the kind of buildings you’re involved with. I think it’s important to look at different companies and find one whose field interests you and whose atmosphere makes you want to work there. You’ll surely find a place that’s the right fit for you.
