ReseArchi#1 – New Broadcasting of Our In-house Newsletters.

We sincerely appreciate your continued interest in our work.

We are pleased to announce the launch of our in-house design newsletter for a wider audience. Originally created for internal use, we realized that the content could also be valuable for anyone interested in architectural design. We’ve named the series “ReseArchi”, a blend of “Research” and “Architecture.”

In our newsletters, each team member explores and researches the architectural designs around them, sharing their insights and inspirations through stories. By extending beyond internal circulation, we hope to reach a wider audience and offer a deeper understanding of our creativity and values.

We hope you enjoy them!

ReseArchi#1 Sarukurayama Brewery

Website:https://www.uonuma-no-sato.jp/facility/sarukura/
Location: Inside Uonumano-Sato Hakkaizan-Brewery Nagamori Uonuma-Shi Niigata, Japan
Total floor area: 1,227㎡ 1st floor (partially 2nd floor)
Design: Kajima Corporation (KAJIMA DESIGN)
Completed: May 2018

This is the brewery for “Raideen Beer,” a craft beer produced by Hakkaisan Brewery in Minami-Uonuma City, Niigata Prefecture.

The beauty of the design can be seen in the facade, which follows the mountain ridge line. The roof with a 5-degree pitch connects to the slope of the terrain, creating an exterior that blends seamlessly with the landscape.

Retaining walls can serve as earth retention, tunnel passageways in winter, or as buttresses to reduce the thrust acting on the building’s truss structure.

In the open kitchen, you can enjoy local craft beer, hamburgers, and gelato, surrounded by the industrial atmosphere created by the exposed structure and the tactile materials of the ductwork and furniture. You can also enjoy a meal while taking in the scenic views of Uonuma from the beer bar space.

I visited here during my trip, and it is a spacious and very pleasant space. It is a spot I highly recommend you visit when you are in Uonuma.
